TRIBUTE TO ROY RASMUSSEN - 1919 - 2014

We are sad to announce that FPS founding member Roy Rasmussen has passed away aged 94.

Roy has been an inspiration for the everyone involved with FPS over the last 60 years, and has played a pivotal role within the organisation as Director and Historian.

Roy was among the first to pioneer the medium of aluminium in art and had an international reputation, exhibiting his work in many places throughout Europe, including Paris, Berlin; and also in North America. He took beaten and welded metal further than any artist over the past century, and no-one has explored the possibilities of aluminium as sculptural material more.

We hope that the Roy Rasmussen Awards, held at our annual open exhibitions will continue his legacy and celebrate the memory of such a talented and dedicated artist, and we will endeavour to continue the ethos that he proudly championed.
