Artist Statement

 

I am not confined to a particular medium or technique but am trying to explore a wide range of styles and techniques.  Freedom of expression is at the core of what I do. In my paintings I want to enhance and transcend that which is commonly understood as real and give expression to a my personal, often wishful, perception of the world. Thus I constantly, but always subconsciously, find myself being influenced by German Romantic painters, like Caspar David Friedrich , and Expressionism, notably by “ Der  Blaue Reiter”.  Without wanting to indulge in nostalgia for times lost, I am seeking  ways  of transposing a perception of the unity of life , nature and environment into our fragmented everyday experience into my paintings.
